Profiles in software
I wrote an article describing a project I started where I’ll be interviewing people in the software industry about themselves and the coaching they’ve received. I made a list of close to 50 people I’d like to talk to. I then sent out 5 invites. I’ve gotten 2 responses back already!
I couldn’t be more excited about this! I want this to turn into a monthly event, and publish a profile that is up to 7,500 words, exploring different people and different perspectives about software and coaching. Stay tuned!
Power is yours
This week I published my longest article to date (1,500 words) and quite possible the most sensitive and controversial topic I’ll touch. It’s about power and how we should respond to others we work with, in order to keep ours. There is so much more to cover on this topic, and I know I’ll be writing more about it.
Science and deadlines
A co-worker of mine gave me a wonderful framing of deadlines and I wrote about it. There is a problem we face with software in that for most of the work, there is discovery needed that requires the scientific method in order to get to a solution. We under estimate how much of our work is “widget stamping” vs. “science”. I think this topic is going to get more attention later as well.
